Failing to advance
Quote from team1126 on July 15, 2025, 1:13 amI wanted to reload some 9mm and found that the automatic advancing didn't work on the downstroke. First time that's happened. Any ideas?

Quote from The Human Manual on July 15, 2025, 3:46 pmFirst, see if you can rotate the shellplate by hand. If not, then back up the shellplate bolt 1/8 turn, and snug the brass-tipped set screw on the left side of the shaft. Test again after doing this. Next, remove the shellplate and verify that the pawl is in place and oriented with the wide side facing clockwise. Next, without the shellplate installed, slowly cycle the handle while watching the top of the ring indexer. Does it move? If not, the return spring could have fallen off. If it does cycle, reinstall the shellplate and cycle the handle while watching the indexing cam on the left side of the frame. The brass roller on this cam engages the angled camming surface on the ring indexer to push it around. If the ring has cracked, it might flex when the camming surfaces contact.
