seeking mainshaft sleeve help

Page 1 of 5Next

I have a worn out 1050 that needs a sleeve for the mainshaft.
Does anyone on this forum know where to get the sleeve and what size to bore the press out to accept the sleeve?

It's an easy job I figure someone on this forum has done this and can share the material & type of sleeve they used and where to source it?
Thanks

I don't have a 1050, RL or Super. How long of a bearing surface does it have inside the casting? And how long is the mainshaft?

How about just boring it out to 1.5" and making a new mainshaft. It looks like a simple part. McMaster-Carr has some ground shafts.

Or maybe, after boring, press-in a piece of 1 ½" x .035" wall 4130 tubing? It is very strong and stiff. Then just turn/grind down the mainshaft to fit inside. Maybe get some dry ice to shrink it.

I'm afraid the threaded section for the shellplate retainer would be greatly weakened if bored-out much.

thanks for he advice, the shaft is fine its the wobble in the actual press, it needs a sleeve and from what I've been told their are people who do this, I'm being honest i'm cheap and can bore it out myself, I am hoping someone on this forum has done this and will share what they used, I really don't want to try and see method, I'm hoping someone who has done this will provide the details of how they did it?

I found this thread from another forum and not much else.

"the shaft is fine its the wobble in the actual press"

I was only suggesting the oversize or undersize mainshaft to avoid a large overbore that would weaken the threaded boss. $15.54 (plus shipping) for the 4130 sleeve and turning-down the mainshaft .050" or so– it's hard to imagine an easier or less expensive fix, unless their was a custom tailored solution.

I just measured my '650 shaft and it's around 1.498" in diameter. It might be longer, but possibly adaptable to an over-bored 1050– whichever exact machine you have, since there are two different machines with 1050 in the name. Assuming, of course, that your mainshaft is actually 1-31/64" in diameter and that Dillon would sell you one. The part is not actually listed for sale on the website.

My website has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any methods to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d genuinely appreciate it. togel hk
