#1 shell plate

I recently bought a used #1 shell plate in a 45 acp box thinking I could use it on 30-06 but when I tried to slide a 30-06 case into it, it's to tight. Any thoughts? Did they always interchange or was there a time they didn't?

please disregard my first post, shell plates work better when you try them right side up.
