1200B Trimmer and neck size/decapping
Quote from Reloader on August 7, 2014, 6:18 pmI've seen similar discussions out here but not this one specifically: you obviously can't neck-size or decap with the trimmer die. I've seen where people re-size with the trimmer, then use a full-size die for sizing and decapping. Is it not better to just use a neck-size only/decap die? I have one from Lyman and thought that would be a better approach than doing yet another full-sizing. I think it's a bit much to do two full-length sizings per reload...any thoughts?

Since our trim die is a full length sizing die as well, our trim die is the preferred trimmer for those shooting semi or full-auto rifles. Since you eventually have to full length resize when loading for bolt guns, the trimmer kills two birds with one stone as you can take care of the occasional full length sizing when you trim.

Quote from Reloader on August 12, 2014, 7:38 pmThanks for the reply. Then my process would be:
1.Full-length size and trim using the 1200B trimmer and die then 2.grab another toolhead and just use the neck-size/decap die to expand/decap.
My neck-size die has an expander ball which I really think should be used...just using the trimmer die probably leaves the neck too tight. I noticed that when I expand/decap after using the trimmer die, the press has some significant resistance pushing that ball through the neck. I hope I'm on track.
