223/5.56 CaseFeed Tube Jams
Quote from Reloader on October 30, 2020, 5:45 pmOk, I finally got the 650 set up for a run of 223, and after three cartridges, the empty cases are jamming in the case feeder drop tube!!! It seems the drop tube’s ID allows the base of one case to slide down next to the neck of the case below, causing a jam within the clear plastic drop tube! A slightly smaller drop tube ID should solve this.
Thoughts!

Quote from Reloader on October 31, 2020, 12:10 amI have had that happen several times with .223 cases, also. I measured the tube inside and outside and it doesn't seem to be any even number of standard measurement units. 38.5 points! You would definitely want any replacement to also be clear, though...

Quote from Reloader on November 1, 2020, 11:19 pmDidn't get out to look for smaller ID tubing, so took a length of clear packing tape, folding it length wise (sticky side together), then slid it in the tube....seems to have eliminated MOST of the problem....still need a better fix!

Quote from Reloader on November 3, 2020, 1:08 pmBTW, got an email from Dillon saying the ID of the case feeder drop tube is supposed to be about 0.550", but mine is about 0.620". I've looked on-line, and see no indication that Dillon has different sized drop tubes EXCEPT probably for their magnum rifle case feeder.

Quote from Reloader on December 30, 2020, 11:09 amDillon was kind enough to send a standard case feeding tube with the smaller ID to replace the larger/Mag. size tube I had! Thank you!
