.223 cases wobble in plate

I'm having an issue.

Either there is a design flaw or I'm doing something terribly wrong.

When I reload 9mm it's fine.
When I reload .40 it's fine.
When I reload .308 it's fine.

However when I reload .223/5.56 my cases wobble in the plate. They wobble so bad that they when I lower the lever, quite often, they hit the lip of the powder die and cause an abrupt stop to my cycle.

Here is a youtube like showing the tremendous wobble I am getting and how it hits the lip of the powder die.

What have I done wrong??

Please confirm which shell plate you are using.  #3 Shellplate - # 13684.
Any chance the primer is sticking out? Your video is showing problems at the deprime station, so this is not a locator pin problem.  Take a picture of the bottom of the cases.

Looks at the video again.  I see this is the prime and powder station.  If you are using the correct shell plate, then there is a chance you have the depriming rod pushing down to hard and deforming the bottom of the case.  It also could be that you have not seated the primer enough. Double check that you have #3 locator pins.

A picture of the case will help.

I am kinda new at this but shouldn't the spent primer chute underneath station 1 be opening and closing freely. Might be some primer debris caught up in there. Also verify that the index sprocket can move freely forward and backward....if that fails, take it apart and verify the sprocket or plate is not bent. I had a simular problem with my 9mm. I am a newbie but have had my share...Hang in there, these guys will get you right.

The video doesn't give a good view of the shell plate. Like ICB said make sure you have the #3 shell plate and #3 pins. I am sizing and trimming .223 brass right now and I had a little wobble going into the trimmer which I corrected by tightening down the shell plate a little more. The only way I could get the ammount of wobble you have is by turning the shell plate upside down. Make sure you have the number on the shell plate facing up and the shell plate down as tight has it will go but still let you turn with ease. I tighten the plate with cases in the plate to get the tightness correct.

Confirmed #3 shell plate and #3 retaining pins.
The primers are seated perfectly and aren't sticking out. I disassembled the entire machine, cleaned it, lubricated, cleaned it again and then cleaned it a 3rd time. The problem is solved now. I don't know what the issue was, but it's not happening now. There was a bit of "junk" in the spring that holds the singular ball bearing under the shell plate - maybe that had something to do with it...and there was a bit of gunk under the shell plate as well - could have been preventing it from lowering all the way to grab the cases.

Anyway - crisis over - back to reloading.

Thanks for the help and suggestion.

Did you make sure that you have the correct shell plate and button combination? #3 plate (#13684), #3 locator button I believe is what's needed.
