250 Grain/.451/45 ACP loads

I just purchased some 250 grain, vinyl coated, round nose-flat point .451 dia bullets that I want to load for my .45 Auto Kimber 1911 and S&W 625 Revolver. I have a nice quantity of Hodgdon Tite Group and Bullseye powders - but cannot find any reload data on 250 grain bullets in those diameters. Anyone know where I could find the data?

Reloading Data Center | Hodgdon (hodgdonreloading.com)

Here is the data published on the Hodgdon site.

Neither of the powders you listed were in the data.

What is the rationale for going to 250s on the 45ACP? I would think the added projectile would invade powder capacity in an already tight shell.

Actually, the length and diameter of the bullets are identical to the Hornady HAP rounds I currently load. I want to fire a heavier bullet (+20 grains vs 230 grain) at or around 850 - 900 fps. From what I see with the other powder - reloading data - the OAL for these vs other bullets is the same (1.20 to 1.22). I was just wondering if anyone had any experience loading those powders (Tite Group and/or Bullseye) with 250 grain .45 ACP bullets. Thanks though.

Not only are the projectiles you are using heavier than "standard" but you anticipate firing them at higher than standard velocity.

What handgun do you intend to use these in?

Just curious...

If you can find a copy of the Laser-Cast Reloading Manual, first edition, they have pressure-tested data for 250 grain bullets in 45ACP using both Bulllseye and Titegroup Powders. Their loads are +P, and in the mid-700 fps range.

Exactly what I was wondering about...

If the published data shows +P @ 750 fps, an additional 100 fps would/could result in a very high chamber pressure for a 1911 type handgun.

personally, I wouldn't feed my 1911s any of those hot potatoes.
