2nd hand 550

OK, I bought a 2nd hand 550 press from my brother-in-law, who bought it at an auction (for real cheap $50.)

It is missing a bunch of stuff, when compared to pictures in the latest catalog.

What should I do?

Purchase the parts I think I need?

Send it back to Dillon?

I'm more then willing to pay for what's needed, since I'll still be less then buying a whole one new.

I've already got another press (non-Dillon) so I'm familiar enough with how things should operate.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would get a Dillon parts schematic and figure out what parts are missing.  This will give you a good feel for how everything goes together and what part does what.  Just buying a press and setting it up doesn't really give you much experience with the press, and you really do need to know how it all fits together to get the most out of it.  Just my .02.  Or you could throw it in a box and send it to me to get that bad boy out of your way!

+1 what medalguy said....He is spot on!

e-mail us with your name and address and we'll mail a manual to you, or you may click on MANUALS on the overhead menu to open up the manual in a .pdf format, for downloading or printing.

We do have a clean & lube service available, for $47.95- includes return shipping. Then while it's here we can advise you of what is missing. The above service includes replacement of any worn or damaged parts.

Take the $47.95 option and return it to Dillon for a rework ASAP.  I did and I can assure you that you will not be dissappointed!!!
