3 Issues with my 550

Any help is appreciated.

Problem 1 Powder is leaking all over. It is Bullseye loading 45 ACP. It is leaking from both ends on top of the powder bar. Any way to stop this?
It is making a mess.

Problem 2 The primer bar on the 45 does not travel all the way 100% of the time to pick up a primer. I have been manually bumping it the last few millimeters. I made sure the assembly was all the way down as was suggested to me by Dillon before. My small primer assembly for 9 mm is new and looks different and works perfectly.

Problem 3 Likely not a Dillon issue, as it is an RCBS die. When loading 9 mm the primers are getting stuck on the punch that pushes them out, then sucks them back in. I read somewhere the fix was grinding a new profile on the primer punch. Anyone have a picture or drawing of that?

Thanks

Jim

Be sure the plug that secures the spacer bar above the powder bar is pressed in all the way. How much powder leaks, a few granules, or a bunch?

Is the slide not travelling fully rearward to pick up the primer, or fully forward to deliver the primer under the case?

On the decap pin, no drawings we have. use medium grit sandpaper to round off any sharp, square edges is all.

The plug was up a few thousands. I secured it down, ran a few more and it still leaks. It is quite a bit of powder. In a few strokes, there are about 50-100 granules on top of the bar. A lot seem to go back in, until it is really saturated. Powder bar is .357" thick.

The primer slide does not travel the full distance to pick up the primer. I just worked into my routine to pull it the rest of the way when the handle is down.

Thanks

Jim

ON THE PRIMER BAR NOT PICKING UP PRIMERS.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.  DROVE ME NUTS FOR A LONG TIME.  I FINALLY REALIZED THE PRIMER CUP WAS RUBBING THE SIDE OF THE PRIMER BASE HOUSING, AND I TRIED SHIMMING IT, LOOSENING IT ETC.  I FINALLY REALIZED MY PRIMER PUNCH WAS LEANING OVER SLIGHTLY, SO IT WOULD NEVER LINE UP ENOUGH TO PICK UP PRIMERS.  DILLON PROVIDED A NEW PRIMER BAR, AND THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM.  THE ISSUE WAS THAT THE HOLE IN THE PRIMER BAR BECAME OVAL, AND THE SET SCREW WAS PUSHING THE PRIMER PUNCH OVER TDC.  THAT PRIMER PUNCH MUST LINE UP WELL WITH THE PRIMERS BEING DISPENSED.

ON THE DEPRIMER PIN GRABBING PRIMERS.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT DIAMETER DEPRIMER PIN.   RCBS HAS SMALL PINS AND LARGE PINS.  USING THE WRONG SIZE DEPRIMING PIN CAN CAUSE THE PROBLEM.  ESPECIALLY WITH PRIMERS THAT HAVE BEEN CRIMPED IN, SUCH AS MILITARY AND SOME COMMERCIAL ROUNDS.

USE SMALL PINS FOR SMALL PRIMERS AND LARGE PINS FOR LARGE PRIMERS.

GOOD LUCK

Thanks all.
For the primer pick up issue, I purchased an after market primer slide with roller bearing from Ebay. It works perfectly now.

The powder leakage, Dillon sent me an over sized spacer.
It helped, but only by 50% or so.
Then I finally called, and they told me to send back the old powder measure. I did, and in under a week the new one was here.
I just cranked out 50 uneventful rounds, and not a speck of powder leaked.

I will check my de-prime pins on the 9mm once I set it up.
Thanks!!
