308 powder funnel too short?
Quote from MichaelF on March 29, 2025, 11:41 amHi,
As I'm installing the DI21094 caliber conversion kit for 308 win I noticed the powder funnel (marked B) is way too short. It should be about 10mm longer?
Even the powder die fully down on the plate doesnt allow the case to engage the powder measure to fully engage till the end.
Has anyone experienced the same issue? or do I need a different funnel? the Dillon table gives the "B" funnel as correct.
Thanks,
Michael

Quote from The Human Manual on March 31, 2025, 5:54 pmThe B funnel is correct. Measured from top to bottom, the B funnel should be 1.220" long, +/- .010". If you obtained this funnel from an outside source, it could be a pre-May, 1985 "B" funnel. The pre 5/85 funnels are about .200" shorter, as they were intended for use with the manual powder measure of the era. When the automatic powder measure was introduced, we determined it needed to be longer.

So I use the AK funnel, works perfect and allows me the have a micrometer seating die opposite the powder die (lyman pro die). The AK funnel fits perfect for a 308 BUT you need to have the cases to go through a resizing die first, a used case does not fit, a re-sized case fits 100%

Quote from Plinker625 on May 10, 2025, 5:53 pmBrass getting powder should be resized before engaging the powder measure. So I question why would you be trying put powder into cartridge case that has not been resized? I have no problems with 30 Caliber "B" funnel with loading 308 Win ammo
