357 sig backup die

The "F" backup die on my 1050 expands the case neck too much for loading 357 sig.

I can't get any tension on the bullet when it is wound all the way down so the swage can work correctly.

Is the "S" expander the only one with a smaller diameter? Will this reach the bottom of the 357 sig case?

If not, is there any recommendation you can provide?

Thanks,
Dan

We are not familiar with any 357 SIG brass that requires swaging.
That said, you can use the 223 swage backup die assembly as well as the 30 M1 Carbine backup die to hold the case down at the swaging station.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will place an order for the 223 backup rod.

I use an autodrive and one of the sensors replaces the swaging rod. For this caliber it is more to catch un-deprimed cases than it is for swaging.

I don’t expand the case mouth at all. I just chamfer the mouth fairly heavily and bourse them in. I also make sure the cases are spotless and there is no lube on them at all. The neck is too short to hold well if the mouth is expanded at all. Crimping actually makes the bullet less tight. Over crimping will distort the shoulder.
