45 acp bulge in brass
Quote from Reloader on March 27, 2020, 6:11 pmI am having problems with loading 45's. I am loading 230 RN Hytech coated bullets. About every 3rd or 4th bullet comes out with a bulge at the base of the bullet, They do not case check, but do barrel check. The good bullets measure 11.96mm at that point and the fat ones measure 12.03. COL is 30.91.Hard to figure because it's not consistent, 3 good 1 bad, 2 good. Set up thorough, pulled bullets to check crimp, flare, COL. Everything else is the same.thanks for your help.

Quote from Reloader on March 30, 2020, 6:28 pmcheck some sized, empty cases for this. Usually a bulge occurs if the cases are fired in an unsupported chamber, or if the loaded cartridge is excessively crimped. Crimp should not be below .469"
