45 ACP sizing
Quote from Reloader on May 14, 2020, 7:41 pmI am using a RL 450 to reload 45 ACP
My issue is the LEE resizing die I am using is adjusted to full length resize but the die is just barely long enough as there is maybe 1/2 turn of the die left before it will be out of adjustment to resize more of the case.
Has anyone come across this issue and what did you do to rectify this?

Quote from Reloader on May 17, 2020, 8:38 pmIts a cold rainy day here in quarantined Michigan, so I decided to check the forum and then experiment with your question. I load on a 550 but I think the distances and specifications are roughly the same. Like many reloaders, I rarely throw stuff away, so in addition to my Dillon 45 ACP carbide die, I still had a Lee of the same caliber from many years ago. The threaded area of the Lee die body is shorter than my Dillon of the same caliber. So on this rainy day when I screwed the Lee into the Dillon tool head I came to roughly the same position you have. Importantly, I then resized some brass of various makes and found that the Lee die worked fine for me. By "worked fine" I mean that I checked the resized brass both in my Dillon case gauge AND in the chambers of a couple of my pet 1911 Colts. So if I were you, I would check your resized cases and if your result is the same of mine, use the Lee die until you decide to move to Dillon or something else. If you are not able to properly resize the cases with your Lee die, then the only remedy is to purchase a new die now before you move any further in your reloading project.
Best of luck!
Terry
