.45 ACP Trials
Quote from Reloader on May 7, 2013, 7:02 pmSo I started reloading .45 ACP and I'm using a Hornady 200gr. GR FTX bullet at 1.178" OAL.
Problem is the bullet has this weird red cap point to it that 1) if I seat to the required OAL puts the bullet WAY below the crimp line, or 2) if I seat the bullet to the required OAL the bullet is at the crimp line but then the red cap point jams the bullet when fed into a magazine and the round trys to enter the chamber (I assume its because the red cap point puts the overall cartridge beyond the OAL). Do I chalk it up to buying the wrong bullet, or can I just melt off the red cap point (it looks to be plastic or wax) and drive on?
