.45 Auto Win NT
Quote from Reloader on November 1, 2007, 9:32 pmI have some used brass headstamped "WIN NT 45 AUTO". It appears to have a small pistol primer. It certainly will not re-prime with the large pistol primers I was reloading my .45 ACP rounds with. What is this stuff? Can it be reloaded?

Quote from Reloader on November 2, 2007, 10:50 pmCurrently, all domestically produced lead-free primers are only manufactured in a small size. So when ammunition manufacturers offer lead-free primered ammo, they make brass with small primer pockets regardless of caliber. In addition to Winchester, Federal also offes NT 45 ACP ammo; also equipped with small primer pockets. This brass may be successfully loaded. It merely requires you to sort it from the other brass and use small primers in it.

Quote from Reloader on November 3, 2007, 1:56 amWill any brand of small pistol primers work or does this brass and the standard loads for .45 ACP require those "lead-free" primers?

Quote from Reloader on November 5, 2007, 4:47 pmAny brand of small pistol primers is fine with this brass. As well, all piblished loads are fine as well.

Quote from Reloader on December 17, 2007, 1:05 amI've heard about this new brass on another reloading website. Yes, you use a small pistol primer but know nothing else about this new brass.

Quote from Reloader on October 6, 2010, 4:32 pmI have seen this problem with Federal .40 SW. Most of the cases marked 'NT' will not properly seat a small pistol primer. I have had sort out these cases from my other Federal cases and then deprime the cases and ream out the primer pocket. Anyone else run it to this problem?

Quote from Reloader on October 7, 2010, 2:09 pmThe .40 S&W NT brass you are running into may have been loaded for either the US Coast Guard or for the Dept. of Homeland Security. This brass has crimped primer pockets. After depriming, the Dillon SS-600 primer Pocket swager should be used to swage out the crimp so the cases can be primed.

Quote from Reloader on October 12, 2010, 8:26 pmTHanks Thats what I have ended up doing. Slows the process down but once it is done then I can keep loading the cases until they fail.
At first I thought I was doing something wrong.
