45 Win Mag Shell Holder
Quote from Reloader on August 19, 2008, 4:09 pmI went to my local Dillon dealer to see if they had a 45ACP shell holder kit for my 550B. I was in a hurry to do a special favor for a pal and don't usually reload 45ACP.
They did not have the 45ACP, but they did have a 45 Win Mag shell holder. After a lot of assurances and comparison of some off-the-shelf ammo, I went home with the kit. However after running 50 rounds, it seems a wee tad loose. I had one well-worn 45ACP case push through on primer seating.
This shell holder is marked "L". Is there an actual difference between the 45ACP shell holder and this one?
Curious in Suwanee

Quote from Reloader on August 19, 2008, 10:18 pmYes, there is indeed a separate shellplate for 45 Win Mag . The "L" shellplate is for 45 Win Mag. 45 ACP uses the #1 shellplate. The locator pins and powder funnel are identical.
45ACP shares the same shellplate as .308, 30-06, etc.
