yes you can load a 300 grain .458 bullet in a 458 win brass case and safely fire it,
Ive used both IMR 4198 and RL7 powders, around 48 grains of either powder under a 300 grain bullets safe and at least in my remington 700 bolt action both safe and accurate , hornady #11 manual lists a charge of 49 grains of imr 4198 giving you near 2100fps
if your goal is less expensive ammo, for deer or elk hunting why not used hard cast gas check bullets
bullets like/ similar too, the mold linked over 50 grains of IMR 3031 have worked well in my buddies ruger #1 458 he uses for hunting elk for decades
https://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=46-350B
btw use 95% WW alloy and 5% tin and size .459 215 fed primers and a wisp of cotton ball fiber over the powder and under the bullet to keep powder near the primer consistently helps accuracy

Really good advice, thanks! Gonna try it(now that I've read, it makes total sense, why didn't I think about it before ?! )
