550 or 650

Ok been looking for awhile now and next week I will be getting a new reloaded but can't decide. I might load 1000 a year. But right now I'm sitting on close to 5,000 empties. A mix of 9mm .40 .45acp .204 .223 and 22-250. It would take me forever to get it all done with my lee single stage but I will keep it for load tests. I won't be changing calibers daily. I think there was only a 163 dollars difference between the 550 and 650. What are your thoughts ? I'm sure it will be mixed Thank you

I have two opinions:

1. For the volume you're talking about I think the 550 is the better system.
2. Always buy the best you can reasonably afford. You never know what you'll need in a few years and it's more expensive to upgrade.

Speaking of expense, I'd suggest pricing out everything you need for both systems. Press, caliber conversion kits, dies, accessories, etc.

You'll find the 650 is more than the $160 or so more expensive.

That said it is well worth it if you want to reload in bulk.

They are both great machines. I upgraded from the 550 to the 650 so I could have a powder check but I found I just love the 650 auto index. In my opinion the 650 has a better primer setup.
