550b powder charging problems

My new press is spilling powder all over my loading space... Yes, the funnel is there, it´s for the right caliber and the hight of the toll is ok (the bar opens all the way and I don´t mess the brass)
This makes the powder go from +- 4 grains!
Please Help!

Waht caliber are you loading? Using which powder bar? What powder? How many grains?

I´m in touch by e-mail with Tim on this now. Seems like the outer lever that´t attached with the rod doesn´t come back quick enough wich makes it slam against the powder rod housing.

When adjusting the failsafe rod, push forward on the handle as if seating a primer and hold it there. Now tighten the blue wing nut at the bottom of the failsafe rod until the coil spring above it is partially compressed. The lock-link is supposed to contact the edge of the powder measure body until the failsafe rod pulls it down, also retracting the powder bar.

My problem is slightly different.... when I push a case up to be belled and powdered, no powder is deposited.   I think I must have something in the wrong place or something.  The belling is OK (after I got the die adjusted to a good height).  This is using the extra-small bar, and the spacer bar, loading .357 mag cases.

It would go a LONG way to help us all if we had access to some high resolution images of a complete, operational RL550B with all the various springs in place, powder in it, etc etc.   Trying to see clearly how things go together from the mini-images on this website, or trying to see from the xerographic owner manual is not helpful enough.   I'd like to see multiple views from all sides, and closeups too.

I know my 550B is an older model that has had the powder dispenser assembly "upgraded".  Maybe I need to give up and get a whole new powder unit?

Thanks for any insights.

I'm having the same problem......  On the down stroke things are fine, but as I raise the handle.......  (part 97034) seems to "jump" and when it does powder gets spilled all over things.....  Not a lot of powder, but, enough to make you think things can't be adjusted right and cosistency of drops varies greatly.

I'm using a 550B, large powder slide, H414 @ 37.5 grains for 22-250.  Dies are RCBS.  Anyone have comments??

For rifle charges, slow down the handle stroke when moving the powder bar. It should take one full second to fully move the powder bar from one side to the other. This provides enough time to allow all the powder to drop into the case.

The locking link is supposed to contact the powder measure body. It the end of the stroke the locking link is pulled down and the powder bar is retracted the rest of the way. Be sure the blue wing nut is tight enough to fully retract the powder bar.

I know it's on my end........  Something is not adjusted right!  I tried the "slow" thing and same thing, powder on the machine.

As I watch things part # 17838 goes to one point then on the upstroke... Stay's where it's at then "jumps" to the closed position and spills grains of powder in the process.

What have I have "adjusted" wrong?  Or, is it a lubrication problem?  Please help with suggestions to correct.

I got the machine, set it up and loaded about 120 rounds (Rifle - 22-250) with no problem.....  Now I have these issues....  Trying to load the same caliber, What am I doing wrong?

Nothing was taken off the press......It's been dedicated to the same caliber.

Two days and no reply..........  Come on guy's help me!!!

I want to get things working right.

make sure the failsafe rod is threaded thru the bellcrank on the correct side. It should thread from the big plate to the small plate. Made that mistake once, lots of problems with powder measure operation including hangup's
