550B: Removing shellplate bolt from index sprocket
Quote from Reloader on October 13, 2015, 7:14 pmI need to remove the shellplate bolt from the index sprocket. It does not just slide out but the sprocket spins freely. Does it consists of an upper bolt and a lower female threaded part that sandwiches the index sprocket?
If so, is it reverse threaded?
TIA

Quote from Reloader on October 20, 2015, 4:21 pmThe shellplate bolt is one piece. It sounds like some galling has occurred. Set a socket over the top of the shellplate bolt and tap on it with a hammer. This will separate the two parts. In the future, grease the recess in the sprocket where the shellplate bolt contacts it to prevent this.

Quote from Reloader on December 3, 2015, 10:14 pmThanks, that worked. It took quite a blow to punch it out as there was a lot of galling. I'll have to clean up the inside of the indexing plate to make it useful again.
