6.8

Has anyone loaded 6.8 SPC on the 650?  Any problems or concerns?

We haven't had any complaints about loading for 6.8 SPC, other than component availability. No issues actually loading the cartridge.

HardRock,

I'm loading 6.8 on the XL650.

The challenge is finding the dies that will work for you.  I started with Redding and then switched to Hornady.

Don't forget the Lube!!!

Dillon,

I'm just setting up my 650 to load the 6.8 SPC.

The Dillon XL650 Manual - both printed and online - indicate the shellplate should be a "W".

My caliber conversion kit has an "A" shellplate.

Which is correct?

If the "A" shellplate is the correct one - is there any place online that one can get the definitive, i.e., correct, list of Dillon part numbers for a caliber conversion (including for the RL550B as well)?

Thanks.

I load thousands of 6.8 rounds every month, and I do have more problems with this caliber than any other on the XL650.

First off, the case feeder does not work well AT ALL with the 6.8 brass.  I always use SSA brass (not that it should make a difference in the feeder), and out of 100 rounds that pass through the feeder I will have approx. 20 drop upside-down and another 15 or so get stuck between the case feeder and the case feed plate requiring me to stop and remove it.  This is by far my biggest issue with loading the 6.8 on the Dillon XL650.

Secondly, even when the cases are lubed, I seem to have trouble with the cases getting stuck in the sizing die.  I have not ever had this problem with any other calibers or cases, just the 6.8.  I have had to remove the die about a dozen times to remove a stuck case (12 times out of approx. 150,000 6.8 cases loaded).

I load 6.8, without issues. I am using Redding dies, but also have used my RCBS dies

with any issues. Cases are easily found right now, and so aren't projectiles. Only issue I have seen is some with small primer and some with large primer pockets. I have no explanation for that. It is not finicky, but I trim to length my cases when new, and do a Full length resize. Hardest issue was finding a case gauge and I managed that by calling Lewis..

I have a XL650 and just received my Daniel Defense M4 6.8 SPC and was wondering what I need exactly to reload theis cartridges? Everything let me know please.

I have a XL 650, I have loaded around 100 rounds of 6.8 spc. SSA brass. Did not use the Case Feeder, I have had around 6-10 get stuck in my Hornady Die sent back Hornady they polished a little, but said it was a good die. Started paying more attention on case lube, and seems to be better. I have had a few of the cases push out of shell plate when priming. I started to look at shell plate, it s a (A) , Dillon has contacted me and said that the (A) works best with SSA Brass, I think Dillon is the best, but I would like to be able to load with out issue.
