6.8 Case locator rod

Do I need the case locator rod to decrimp Honrady 6.8 SPC ammo? I have the 600 swager, do I need the locator rad as well to swage 6.8 ammo?

Yes.

When I first swaged 6.8 while waiting on the 6.8 rod to arrive I experimented with a couple of wraps of masking tape around the rod I use for .223. It worked ok but the rod works much better.
