650 case trim .223

I have a 650 and I load .223/556. I was trimming the cases on another trimmer, but since I have been reloading a lot more 223/556 I am thinking about getting the RT1500 case trimmer. I assume I need a different toolhead? I also think I read that I will need a different sizing die? Is that correct? What exactly will I need to order?

Thank you.

I have yet to wear out a cutting blade (1000s of 223 trimmed). replacement blade is L86-13141 . you can always get one to have on hand or get later.  You have three edges to use up (still on my first edge), so it is no rush.

Remember to lube your .223 cases!
I setup the Size Die in station 1.  Set it high so sizing is not done, but depriming is.
The trim dies goes in station 4. It does a full length resize (neck and case) and trim.  By letting die do the sizing and this keeps the case from spinning in the trim doe, leaving a clean trim on the case.

Awesome. Thank you for the help.

They didn't have the thinner tool head when I started trimming on a 650. I could barely get enough threads to hold the trim die in place so I drilled and tapped a hole from the side of the tool head into the threads on number 3 station. To adjust the die, I have to slide the tool head back off a little, loosen the set screw (which is below the surface of the tool head), adjust the die, and re-tighten set screw. I installed a lyman M die on station five to expand the neck. I use lots of lube and I've found that my brass is more concentric expanding with the lyman m die than pulling the brass through a sizer die expanding plug.

mine gets pretty hot, when do you shut ti down and let it cool off

Running hot is normal. Do not worry about it. Your arm will wear out before the trimmer can overheat. Check every once in a while to verify the chips are being sucked away with the vacuum.
