6mm ARC

Is Dillon going to produce a Caliber Conversion Kit for 6mm ARC?

Great question!

I have been waffling on the 6mm ARC and now I'm reading about the 6mm GT.

Being an old guy and wanting a rifle that can "reach out" with low recoil and good barrel life, those 6mms sure sound like a great option.

We do #62452

XL750 / XL650 Caliber Conversion Kits (dillonprecision.com)

I did not see the 6mm ARC listed in the charts.  Which parts are different than 6.5 Grendel and can I order just those parts?

Use the ^PPC powder funnel #13085, The 6mmARC Casefeed Adapter #62427, 6mm ARC Shellplate #75127. These are all available separately.

If you are necking down 6.5 Grendel cases into 6mm ARC, then use the A shellplate. Factory 6mm ARC has different extractor groove dimensions from 6.5 Grendel, and won't share the same shellplate.

I do not see any way to order the 6mm ARC Casefeed Adapter #62427, 6mm ARC Shellplate #75127 on the website.  Do I need to call?

Also I would like to get a carbide full length resizing die.  Does Dillon make those?  I don't see that on the website either.

Thanks,

We are still waiting for shellplates to be delivered. Once they are available, we will list them online. No plans to make a carbide die. Not enough demand.

My experience trying to use the 6mm PPC powder funnel for 6mm ARC, from an archive thread that I was unable to find by searching for "PPC"–

...major surgery was required. The 6mm PPC has a much longer neck and a different shoulder angle. The 6mm ARC has a 0.030" shorter neck than the Grendel. I had to cut the 6MM PPC die 0.140" shorter and bore out the taper.

I don't think there is a good choice for 6mm ARC powder funnel from Dillon, and they should probably make yet another funnel. The .243 Winchester has a longer neck and different taper, so the ARC probably wouldn't fit well in there without hitting the shoulder, but I don't actually have one to try.

A guy on the AR15.com forum said he called Dillon and they told him the 6mm PPC funnel would work. Unless they changed them since they made the one I bought from Graf's, he's going to be very disappointed.

–And as I recall, the neck diameter was also too small and had to be bored-out slightly.

I just compared an unfired Hornady 6mm ARC case with an unfired converted Starline Grendel case, and sure enough, the extractor groove is slightly narrower on the Grendel case and deeper on the ARC case.  That said, I have had no trouble using the Grendel Shellplate with both, and there is only the slightest bit more wiggle room with the ARC case.
