9mm Reloading Problems
Quote from Reloader on March 11, 2017, 7:28 pmI am new to reloading 9mm ammo. I recently loaded about 125 on my Square Deal B machine. I then starting putting them through my headspace case gage only to find that some of the rounds dropped right in easily and many did not. I did not make any changes to the stations on my toolhead. I then took the barrel out of my 9mm firearm and tried inserting the rounds into the barrel with the same results. I was using NEW brass and DID use the sizing station. I have gotten some information on the internet but ended up with the same result. It seems that the brass is larger from about 3/4 of the way down from the case mouth and sometimes almost to the end. If I can get this problem solved I am considering pulling the rounds that I have done and reloading them. I also would like to know if the crimp could have something to do with this problem. Any help is appreciated.

Quote from Reloader on March 15, 2017, 5:10 pmSize ten pieces of brass, and see if those ten pieces of sized brass (not loaded rounds) drop fully into the case gage. If they do, loaded them and gage them again.
If they do not gage, then put a fired case in station 1, pull the handle down, and see if the bottom of the size die in station 1 touches the top of the shellplate. If it does not, email us for a replacement friction plate.
