Accurate 5744 Powder Problem
Quote from Reloader on August 13, 2017, 1:46 amI have a new problem with my 650. I am working on some 7.62x39 rounds. I am loading powder coated 129 grain bullets.
First problem is I purchased a couple C Funnels one for my 300 Blackout and one for this caliber. One of them is bad, has a run just under the funnel so I was thinking it was causing my powder to get stuck. I polished the other funnel (had a white powder coating of some kind on it) reinstalled it cleaned up the mess of all my powder all over the place. Though I was about to get underway (already did my ladder load measuring one round at a time) so now I have my load and am ready to make some ammo and the powder keeps getting stuck, them the next time I run the press it dumps 1 1/2 charges all over the place.
Is there a trick to use stick powder? I have never used any its expensive but its very very accurate with the cast bullet I am using. I am only a fair shot and I can get .63" group with it and with other powders I am getting 2" groups (only 50 yards).I have now put my Lee expander in to expand the brass and I am about to load measuring one charge at a time. I enjoying reloading but measuring around 1000 charges one at a time is not something I am looking forward to.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help people send my way.

Quote from Reloader on August 14, 2017, 4:01 pmThe powder funnels have a wax coating on them to prevent rust. Use solvent and a bore brush to clean the interior of the powder funnel.
With extruded powders, slow down your handle stroke. The powder has to flow through a relatively small hole, so by slowing the stroke speed it drops the powder slower, reducing the instance of a logjam. It should take at least one full second to move the powder bar over.
