Adjusting old style dies

Does anybody have instructions for adjusting the older style 45 acp dies? The ones with all carbide inserts. Particularly the seating die. I’ve tried seating cast bullets with a 20 thou. bell and I’m getting lead shavings and bullets not seating straight
Thanks

To adjust the older Dillon seat die, start by putting a sized, empty case in station 4 , and pull the handle down. This elevates the case. Leaving the handle down, screw just the seat die body down until it stops on the case mouth, then back it up 1/4 turn. Finger tighten the die lock ring.
Now, lift the handle up, remove that case, and insert a flared case with a bullet on it into station 4. Again, pull the handle down and leave it down. With your fingers, screw the seat stem down until you feel it stop against the bullet. Lift the handle up slightly, turn the bullet seat stem down a couple of turns. Pull the handle down again to seat the bullet partially, pull the handle up and remove this cartridge. Measure the overall cartridge length, compare it to your load data. One rotation of the seat stem is about .055", to give you some math to use. Slowly work the seat stem down until the OAL is close to what you want. Now, add a fired case to station 1. This gives you the same upward pressure on the toolhead as you will have while actually loading. Now dial the seat stem in to reach the desired OAL. Once this is reached, tighten the die and seat stem lock rings with the cartridge in both the size and seat dies.

Many thanks. I like these old style dies because they are all carbide unlike the newer one were only the sizer is carbide
Thanks
