I recommend you add a case feed to your 550. That will speed things up.
If you want to go 'slightly' faster then purchase a 650. I started with a 550b, moved to a 650 for the autoindex and case feed (when I switched the case feed was not available for the 550). While happy with the 650, I was able to go 'just as fast' and 'just as smooth' on the 550.
