Best OAL .30-06 M1 Garand
Quote from Reloader on October 31, 2012, 11:11 pmIm reloading for my M1 Garand, and am curious as to the preferred OAL of my rounds using Hornady .30cal, 150gr FMJ/BT. By the way, Im using IRM4895, 47gr, CCI 34 primers. I read several sources that suggest 3.34", but with my rounds, that seems to result in too much of the bullet extending from the bottleneck of the brass. Any suggestions?

Quote from Reloader on November 3, 2012, 2:35 amAll of my Greek Ball .30-06 M1 Garand ammo has an average OAL of 3.34". Using .30-06 used brass, and Hornady #3037 FMJ-BT bullets, shouldn't my OAL be approximately the same? 3.185" seems way too short, but when I set the bullet seating die to approximate the 3.34" OAL, the bullet seems to extend too far out of the case.
