Best Powders for loading 223
Quote from Reloader on October 17, 2013, 9:10 pmI, like others here have only loaded pistol rounds but am ready to move to rifle rounds. I have 223 dies on order and wanted to ask if others can provide feedback to the best powders for use on the 550B for 223/5.56.
Not asking for specific load data only the powders that others here have successfully used. I have read where some powders do not drop as accurately as others and I wanted to ask for powder recommendations I should work with to insure the most accurate, consistant drop weights time and time again.
Thanks in Advance for your responses

Quote from Reloader on October 19, 2013, 12:47 pmDon't know if this will help but I just finish firing off my first reloads of .223 at the range this week using the Winchester 748. That was the only thing we had locally for rifle loads for AR's. 1st time using win 748 but it measures very accurate and the drops were very consistant on my 550B....a very good ball powder with no droppings during loads...if they stocked it in 8 lds I would pick some more up in a minute. I also did the $27.50 hazmat trip online to pick up some Hodgdon 322...Alliant AR Comp and Power Pro 1200r after lot of research and forum work, the later 2 in 1 lbs containers.
Alot of work but alot of fun so far and since my friends raised me right, QD's and inspections are up 200% like Black Hills Ammo company. I will close with this...doing the math for pistol rounds compared to rifle...DAT DAMN POWDER AINT' GOING AS FAR....SMILE.......So enjoy and be safe on the bench to the range.
