Brass won't slide into shellplate?

Reloading .357 (all Starline Brass) The case rim is not at the same height as the slot in the shellplate. With just a very slight push down on the case snaps into place ok. If I back off the shellplate bolt enough then all is well, but this causes the OAL to be all over the place. 1.570 is recommended OAL, this varys from 1.560 to 1.580. Having to remove bullets from the shorter ones and reseat them is a lot of extra work! So I keep the shellplate with a minium of wobble. I am not a speed loader so reaching in and jiggling the case to make it go into the shellplate is not slowing me down. Just wish it worked properly.

I have checked to be sure I have the right Shellplate (#2) and the station #1 locater is also #1.

Thank you for any help you could give. Dillon is the best!

Staion 1 locator should be marked 2. When adjusting the shellplate, it should be as tight as possbile, yet still rotate.

Yes it is station locater #2. my mistake.

The problem remains that the shell case is trying to enter the slot in the shellplate too high. The rim of the brass is too high it is not lined up with the slot in the shellplate so I have to push the brass down by hand, maybe only about .030 to .050 then it snaps right into place. I don't see any way to adjust this?

I am having the same problem. I have been unable to reach Dillon for advice. Same results with both 38 and 9MM.
I recently replace the entire cam assembly and adjusted the cam pin as per instructions. What other adjustments are possible??

If you are sure that is the correct station 1 locator for the caliber the
only thing I can think of is that the spring under station 1 locator
is perhaps too long and is just holding the locator up a bit high.

However by rights, the sliding case feed block should
push that down even if the spring was a bit over enthusiastic.

When the case feed block slides in toward the shell plate it
should push station one locator down. Stick a bright flashlight
down there while operating and see if it (station locator 1) is not being pushed down to the metal support ramp directly below station locator 1.

If it is not, then that would indicate something wrong with the assembly
of the sliding feed block.

As a assist in finding others to chime in with ideas try Brian Enos forums as well there seems to be more people lurking there.

You are correct and understand the problem. Yes the case feed block does push the station 1 locator down, just not enough? I've tried to figure a way to use a shim or something like it, but so no ideas.

And thanks for tip about the Brian Enos forums, went theren and signed up.

try loosing the shell plate so sits a little higher, and make sure there is nothing under the feel plate. I also spray and wipe off the shell case feeder with shell case lube. I have the same problem loading the 45-70 and that seemed fix the problem. (i've been running my 650 for over 15 years). Hope that helps.
