Bullet seating
Quote from Reloader on August 29, 2013, 2:05 pmI just changed my XL650 to load 223. I used the Dillon reloading 3-die set. When I tried to seat the bullets, they would smash the case neck and ruin the case. I switched the seating die out with a RCBS seating die and they loaded perfectly. I have now loaded 2000 rounds with the RCBS seating die and have not a single problem seating bullets. I just wonder what was wrong with the Dillon seating die? I am loading 55 gr. dogtown bullets.

There is nothing inherent in the die design that will do this.

Quote from Reloader on September 9, 2013, 7:16 pmI have had the same problem. What has helped is when I de-bur the inner diameter of the opening, I put a slight chamfer in the brass. When seating the bullet, I give it a little twist into the case before raising it into the seating die. This is not fool proof, but it greatly reduces the amount of ruined brass.

Quote from Reloader on September 10, 2013, 3:57 pmThanks for the advice. I'm still using the RCBS die. To count we have loaded around 7000 rounds and had no problems.
