Caliber Change 45ACP to 38/357
Quote from Reloader on January 4, 2012, 3:38 pmI'm excited to have acquired my first Dillon, an XL650. The press was setup from Dillon for 45ACP but I also need to setup for 38/357. Do I need both a caliber conversion & a quick change ?? I'd like to be able to switch back & forth as needed. I have read that I'll need to insert a spacer washer in case feeder for the longer 357 shells. Anything I'm overlooking ??

Die set #14404
conversion kit #21071
650 quick change #22059
Use the same case feed plate, but do add the washer for .357 magnum. Should you load 38 Special later, merely readjust the dies and remove the washer.

Quote from Reloader on January 14, 2012, 6:12 pmBetter yet buy a 550B for 38 and others you load. I keep my 650 set up for 45 ACP and an ocassional quick change to 44 Mag but found I ldon't like to change it over too often. I added a 550 for 38 and 357 with two toolheads. The change over of the 550 is very easy. I also have conversion kit for 243 and 308 but haven't tried that yet. I ordered a funnel powder die so I can load small runs / test loads from my scale.

Quote from Reloader on April 3, 2012, 4:42 pmI bought this off of ebay for my .357 to .38 special reloading. It works great. You can keep the same tool holder for .38 and .357 and just move the washer from top to the bottoom of the tool holder and make tool adjustments.
