Carbon buildup on brass in tumbler

Well I wasn't sure where to put this as this is more of a brass question rather than a specific 650 issue. But I figuered I've got a 650 and I've reloaded a lot of brass, so probably others have as well.

So I recently got back into reloading again. I bought a brand new vibratory cleaner, brand new media, brand new polishing additive. Put it all together with some range pickup brass and waited for a few hours.

I wish I could post pics here to show this because I'm afraid my words won't do it justice.

The brass came out of the vibratory cleaner dirtier than it went in. it's as if the fine layer of carbon on each piece of brass has condensed into large blotchy black spots that is a real bitch to get off even with a wire brush. I've loaded thousands or rounds and I've never seen something like this. Anyone?

More data required. What type of media and polishing additive are you using?

The media is Kay Cob bedding and litter (corncob).
The polish is Frankford Arsenal Quick n Ez brass polish for vibratory tumblers.

How much polish did you add to the media? It sounds like an excessive amount of polish was used.
