case alignment
Quote from Reloader on November 11, 2013, 3:50 amI own two 550Bs. I use one for small primers and the other for large primers. The one used for large primers has been used for 45ACP reloading, but I decided I wanted to load some 308 win. I bought the necessary items to change it over to 308. I set it up for the 308, but the powder station(2) and the bullet seating station(3) the cases lean toward the outboard. If I take my finger and align the case to feed into the die it's ok, but neither station aligns on it's own. I remove the spider and plate to make sure there wasn't any material present to cause the issue. I wiped the plate. I bought a changeover kit for 243 win, and placed that plate on the machine without any luck. Has anyone had a similar experience? I am stumped. Is it possible for the base the case slides on become worn?
I appreciate any suggestion.

Quote from Reloader on November 11, 2013, 4:20 pmThe platform is heat-treated about .016" deep. We have yet to see a platform worn out. Push down on the edge of the shellplate between stations 2 and 3. If it feels springy, then the shellplate bolt needs to be tighter. We also suggest that you tighten the die lock rings with cases in all four stations, and the handle pulled down. This ensures consistant upward pressure on the toolhead, and centers the dies in the threaded holes.
