Case expansion issues on 9mm
Quote from Reloader on December 12, 2016, 1:14 amI cant seem to get the 9mm funnel to expand the case enough to allow a bullet to seat, just get a massive bell. Adjusting the die up and down don't seem to help, other than reducing bell.

Quote from Reloader on December 12, 2016, 1:04 pmWhat is your expectation of how this should be? The case does not actually get expanded just a flare.
When set correctly the case will have a flare to it and the bullet will sit on this flare until it is seated.

Quote from Reloader on December 12, 2016, 4:13 pmI would expect the case to hold a bullet well enough to seat the bullet without it falling out.

Quote from Reloader on December 12, 2016, 4:21 pmThe bullet will sit on top of the flare but not down into the case. Yes it can fall over on it's side if you're not paying attention. It will also depend somewhat on the bullets being used and how rounded the base edge is. I've been using Rainier Ballistic 124gr without much trouble, every now and then I have a bullet fall over on it's side.

Quote from Reloader on December 12, 2016, 4:55 pmYou flare the case mouth so that when the bullet is seated, you don't scrape away any of the material from the sides of the bullet. The case neck is also expanded, but only to a point where the case neck tension will be the same on the bullet regardless of any minor variations in case neck thickness. Flare case mouths at least .010" larger than a sized, unflared case mouth, and no larger than .020" larger.
If you are using an automatic bullet feeder, this should include a specific powder funnel to keep the bullet oriented upright.

Quote from Reloader on January 24, 2017, 7:57 pmYou need the powder funnel from Mr. bulletfeeder. It expands the case enough for the bullet to sit nicely without too much flare. It is better than the Dillon funnel

Quote from Reloader on January 29, 2017, 9:21 amThe powder funnel does not have a "M" profil and cannot bo modified considering the materiel it is made of. You have to over flare.
The only way to change this is to use another powder drop system with another powder funnel.
Does not Worth the effort except if you intend some day to upgrade your machine with an automatic bullet feeder.Best regards,
Marc
