Case Feed Adapter 40 S&W

Ok, this is probably a dumb question, but the Conversion kit I received for the 40 S&W had two case feed adapters in it. One was red and one was purple. Does it matter which one I use? They both look nearly identical as far as I can tell.

Use purple for 40 S&W, red for 10mm

Just curious now, but why the difference since the only difference between the two is length? and why are they not marked?
