case insert slide not pushing shell in
Quote from Reloader on November 6, 2009, 1:40 amIve ordered the xl650 in 44 special/44 mag.. the number 9 camming pin is too long or the threads arent long enough down the top of the shaft.. the case wouldnt even enter the shellplate when i strarted operating the machine,... with the pin all the way up i can get the case to snap into position, but with a little fouling it will not make it in all the time becouse its pushed in to about 1/8 inch short with this long pin adjusted all the way up......... On page 5 section 3 it says the machine was set up by a tecknition to feed cases and primers.. No way this guy was anything but asleep on the job.. Is there any other option other than grinding the camming pin off? i cant wait to see what fun the rest of the adjustments are set up to be,.... the first thing i had to adjust was the camfeed arm out of adjustment as the cases were hanging up.. That wasnt too tough to figgure out as i did not have to alter parts... .. I would have had a fighting chance if this thing was correct or adjustable without grinding parts when i got it.. i dont know if its out of adjustment, parts wrong, or a defective machine... id like to have been reloading tonight but havent even got it feeding cases yet, unless the case insert slide is not supposed to push the case fully into the shellplate.. .. There may be another adjustment that will push the case insert slide in further? ... dave

Quote from Reloader on November 6, 2009, 2:45 amI appolgise to dillion precision, and thier workers, the case was pushed in proplery when I went on to set up the primer stage by lifing the arm up all the way to insert the primer.. I have the camming pin all the way up, should i put it back to the lower possition?... dave

Quote from Reloader on November 6, 2009, 3:13 pmno problem. adjust the cam pin down so that when the handle is being pushed forward and a case is in the shellplate, the point of the rod just barely touches the ramp on the case feed slide.
