Case mouth expansion on 1050 ?
Quote from Reloader on May 8, 2016, 3:42 pmCase mouth expansion on the Super 1050 for 45 ACP ?
In the Dillon videos and in the print manual for the Super 1050, it refers to adjusting both the station three expander die and the station five powder measure die for creating the proper case mouth bell for accepting the bullet.
If the expander die at station three is properly adjusted, what is further being done at station five as far as case mouth belling ?

Quote from Reloader on May 9, 2016, 4:05 pmOn the 1050 machines, case neck expansion and case mouth flaring are done separately. The case neck is expanded to a uniform inside diameter at the swage backup die. The conical funnel at the powder measure only flares the case mouth.

Quote from Reloader on March 2, 2017, 1:11 amYeah generally station 3 expands the inside of the case to just under bullet diameter, and you set the powder measure just a little lower than what gives full stroke on the powder measure, to bell the edge of the mouth so a bullet can seat w/o shaving lead.
In traditional single stage pistol dies the expander generally has a step in it, from just under bullet diameter to just over.
