Case sizing issue?
Quote from Reloader on April 21, 2014, 4:29 pmI received my new RL550B and got it all set up and ran some test loads and they worked good. Now Im loading up some 9mm with hornady HAP 125 gr. .356 bullets, and changed the seating die insert to the flat nose . My oal is set at 1.069 witch is called for and now when seating the bullets and crimping I checked them with the case gauge and only half of them fit. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong . After sizing and deprime the cases fit the gauge great .I even tried belling alittle more no change! are the bullets going in the case on angle ? Have anyone had this problem?

Quote from Reloader on April 22, 2014, 1:16 pmWhos dies are you using? Based on your comments it appears the problem is at the top of the shell and not at the bottom.
Cases that have problems at primer size:
Check that your deprime and resize die is set to fully cover the shell case (IE: full length resize). If you have Dillon dies it should be just touching the plate for a full length resize. It may have even come lose and backed up. Check all dies for being tight on the toolhead.Cases that have problems at the bullet size:
The setting die is using round when it should be using tapered. Or the other way around. This can effect setting and resizing the top of the shell case. You may need to back off the bullet setting and lower the die a some and then reset the setting of bullet.
The final crimp die is not set deep enough (down the case fare enough).

Quote from Reloader on April 22, 2014, 2:54 pmI'm using dillon dies and its a new press. I used a felt marker and coloured the case and then put it in the case gauge and where its hitting is the bottom of the bullet bulge on one side of the case about 1/4 way around the case.its the same on all the ones that don't fit the gauge.I will see if I can post a photo.

Quote from Reloader on April 22, 2014, 10:53 pmThey are Hornady 9mm 125gr HAP. .356. Dia. I talked to someone on another forum and they said they had to modify the seating die to accept these bullets as they were going in crooked with the flat point of the seating die as the were not sitting right.. I even tried the round part of the die and same thing .. I guess i will get another seating die from dillon and try it..
