Case sizing issue

I own two Dillon 550B presses. One is set up for large primer and is currently set for .45ACP. The other press is set up for small primer and is currently set for 9mm Luger. The .45ACP press runs flawlessly, and takes very little physical effort to run. The 9mm press does not run so well, and the difference is traced to the resizing die. Unless I put some case lube on every 10th case or so, the sizing die takes a fair amount of force to operate - far more than the .45 ACP sizing die on my other press. All dies are Dillon carbide dies. I clean/tumble all my brass the same way, with water, stainless steel pins, Dawn and LemonShine. All brass is typically fired pistol brass, with no more than two prior firings.  Is it just me, or does anyone else have this problem?

9mm has a tapered case, whereas 45ACP has a straightwall case. The size ring inside the 9mm die is much taller than that in 45ACP, and therefore has more friction. Case lube is indeed the correct way to minimize this.

Thanks for the quick response.  Can't say I'm happy to find this out, but at least I know how to work around it.

I have noticed the 9mm takes more effort than the 45 and have read some suggest using case lube even though it's a carbide die.
