Case stuck in decap

Page 1 of 2Next

Hello,

I've now got 5 cases stuck in a row in the decap #1.
Everytime i remove the case and i try it again the case will be stuck in de decap again. The sq just rips the rim of the 9mm. I lube the cases but is there anything else i can try ?

Kind regards.

Have you checked and confirmed that you are using the correct shell plate? Also, make sure you have the correct die. sounds like one of the two are incorrect. should be using #5 shell plate and 9mm labeled #1 die. Recheck to make sure your SDB is set up correctly.

A long time a go I had a shell plate that was worn and needed to be replaced. was doing the same thing you mentioned.

hope this helps

What does the headstamp on the case read exactly?

The headstamp on the case is 9mm luger.
I double checked the die's and shell plate but it is correct. I didn't changed anything it just happend. It will rip the rim even with new cases.

Is there any visible damage to the pockets in the shellplate? Are the cases all by the same manufacturer, or different brands?

this is the situation, https://imgur.com/a/Iuy3qo4
Nothing looks worn. For the case's i mostly use S&B and Geco.

One thing I see is that two of the brass locator pins in use are incorrect. 9mm uses #3 pins in all positions. #2 is for 38/357 and 40 S&W.
Clean out the pockets where cases go in the shellplate. They do look a bit grungy.
I don't see any damage to the shellplate. Have you measured the case rims and compared the dimensions to your reloading manual?

i cleaned everything but still the case's are stuck. Dont know what to do know. The case rims are around 9.85mm.

what is the brand of cases you are using? Have you tried a different brand of cases?
Beyond that, the next step is to have you send in your size die, shellplate and some sample cases for inspection.

I mostly use S&B and geco cases. Is a bit hard to send it because i live in the netherlands.
