Casefeed variable motor upgrade

Does the variable speed motor upgrade for the case feed help with the loading of rounds or is it mainly for those using the case feed for roll sizers or other equipment? I have a XL650 and I was considering the upgrade, but didn't know if it was needed.

The variable speed upgrade is useful if you can operate the machine fast enough to outrun the case feeder.
