Casings not alligned in charging die
Quote from Reloader on June 12, 2011, 6:06 pmI just bought a 650 press from a friend and ordered a 38/357 caliber conversion kit. I have all the dies set up and the case feed is working correctly. My problem is at the charging die.
When I press the handle downward to raise the shell plate the casing is just a little off from the charging die. The cases are going in at a slight angle. The cases go up into the charging die and are being belled but since they are going up at just a slight angle the cases are also getting bent at the rim.
All of the other stations seem to be in alignment, bullets are being deprimed and sized correctly, bullets are seating correctly and are being crimped correctly, its just an alignment problem at station 2.
The die is tight in the machine head and the jam nut is secure. The travel of the charging die seems to be correct, it cycles the charging arm the full travel length.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Quote from Reloader on June 13, 2011, 5:14 pmThere is an adjustable finger at station two to keep the case from coming out of the shellplate. Be sure this is adjusted within .002-.003" of touching the case. Also, push down on the edge of the shellplate at station 4. If it feels springy, then the shellplate bolt needs to be a bit tighter.
