CCI Primer Federal brass
Quote from Reloader on January 2, 2013, 11:58 pmJust finished up a run of 1000 .40 cal loads with CCI primers and winchester brass. Very smooth not one problem. Switched to mixed brass, federal, RP and Winchester and every Federal case will not seat the CCI primer. What is the solution to this problem? I had this issues last year and never solved it.

Quote from Reloader on January 13, 2013, 1:27 pmIt appears like the primer hole is too small. I found something on crimped primers is this possible. The hole where the primer seats is not a smooth opening it appears to be a sharp edge. The old primer extracts as a complete unit.

Quote from Reloader on January 18, 2013, 2:22 amI would almost bet you have have crimped primers. The leave an edge around the primer hole after you decap the old primer. If you want to use them about the only thing you can do is buy a primer pocket swager. Although they are more expensive then some, the dillon swager is so much faster and more precise when removing the crimp that it makes the others look like stone age. I know this because I used a different brand for years until I bought my dillon, what a difference.
