CCI Primers
Quote from Reloader on December 14, 2009, 11:56 pmI have been using CCI primers in my .40 reloads. I am having numerous" failure to fire" from the primers. I have disassembled the rounds and don't see any problem with the primers or the powder or brass. Several only fired after being struck 2 to 3 times and some never fired. The rounds were loaded with Universal Clays powder. Any one else having this problem?

Quote from Reloader on December 17, 2009, 4:07 pmCCI primers are a 'harder' , less ssensitive primer than other brands. However, if they go off on a subsequent strike, this implies the primers are not being fully seated into the pocket. The first firing pin strike is finishing seating the primer, then the subsequent strike ignites it. Be sure the primers are sseated slightly below flush. If your firearm has had an action job, it may be necessary to change to a more sensitive primer, such as Federal or Winchester.

Quote from Reloader on February 27, 2010, 8:23 pmHappens to me occasionally, and I usually use CCI. My wife's weapon of choice is a .40 Sig, and that's the only one I have a problem with (perhaps 2-3 per 500). I shoot revolvers, (Ruger, US Firearms and SW) and don't recall any similar problems in the last 20 years or so.
Dillon's answer above seems to be, as usual, correct.
