CFA for 300 Blackout
Quote from Reloader on February 18, 2013, 8:52 pmI'm ordering a .223 conversion kit for my 650 to start loading 300BLK and was wondering if there's a different Case Feed Adapter needed for the shorter (than 223) brass.
Also, will the recommended 13015 powder funnel expand the case mouth (like a pistol funnel) for using non boat tail bullets and my bullet feeder? If not is there one that will?
Thanks,
Jim

Quote from Reloader on June 10, 2013, 3:22 amI just started loading 300 Blackout this afternoon and without any real guidance other than the stock instruction manual it was a real pain but I ended up getting things running smoothly.
First, the .223 conversion works with one exception and that is the adapter that screws in underneath by the tool head, for that I found using the medium sized adapter rather than the small adapter that comes with the .223 conversion kit worked better. Don't forget to adjust the stroke of the black case feed mechanism so the cases are properly seated in the case holder plate.
Second, forget about using the small rifle case feed plate for the case feeder, the cases will end up upside down most of the time! I found that the only plate that worked was the large pistol plate, it worked but not that great as it would take five minutes with the case feeder on high just to fill the tube.
Third, as others have already stated you need to use the powder funnel for the 7.62x39 (AK-47) round in order to get the powder drop to work properly.

Quote from Reloader on June 10, 2013, 3:29 pmTry the C powder funnel to flare the case mouth. This is the funnel for 30 m1 carbine.
we suggest the small pistol case feed plate with two spacer washers under it to allow cases to feed better. be aware cases won't feed as fast as other calibers.
