Changing Primer Feed Assemblies?

My 550 came set up for .223's. I want to load pistol also. It looks like a pain to change out the assembly, and maintaining correct adjustment of the slider bar. I know a few people who have two 550's, one for rifle and one for pistol. Is this why? I hat to spend $400 more just to have two setups!

Yep.  I have 2 450's set up for large and small primers at my primary home and two more for large and small at my vacation home.  It's a real pain to have to switch the primer feeds back and forth so that's the reason.  I just prefer the 450 because I get a better "feel" for the process and the speed is not an issue for me.

Watch and you can pick up a used press on eBay from time to time for a lot less, but they do sell fast and it may take a few tries to snag one.  However they are the finest presses made, bar none.

It shouldn't be a big ordeal to change primer sizes on the 550B. You pull two bolts to remove the primer feed, exchange the magazine tube, and exchange the primer slides. No adjustments should be necessary between primer sizes, just swapping parts.

Thanks medalguy and dillon.....I will go home and give it a whirl dillon!

I change mine without any problems, if you have lot's of extra cash though
