Chute/Bin Mount bending
Quote from Reloader on November 3, 2016, 4:04 pmHad something weird happen.
Loading some 223 and all of a sudden my machine jammed about halfway on the upstroke of the handle.
Somehow the Chute/Bin Mount was underneath the platform assembly and was keeping it from going down.
First thing I did was to try loosening the two bolts (which were tight) to try to adjust how the mount was setting on the press. Didn't work.
I could push the chute out of the way which would let the platform lower and when I push the handle forward as in seating the primers the Chute mount flexes.
Called Dillon and the guy said that there is a bit of a problem with the mounts and they are sending me a new one. He also said that he had the same problem and he put his mount in a vise and bent it to make it work.
Shouldn't have to do that with a $600 press.
I load a lot of 45acp and don't empty the bin until it's full of loaded rounds.
I wonder if that's putting too much weight on that bracket and is bending it out little by little.
I think that I'm going to put together a chute system that will dump my loaded rounds into a external container without having to use the bin on the machine.

Quote from Reloader on November 3, 2016, 4:59 pmA few years ago this chute was redesigned a bit to strengthen the bends in it. There is not a lot of clearance for the chute, so only a small amount of sagging can cause the chute to get caught under the platform, which has lots of leverage to tweak the part.

Like I said, I'm going to figure out a way to not have to use the ammo bin on it.

Quote from Reloader on November 18, 2017, 4:44 amThe same thing just happened to me. At the same time, the primer indexing arm got bent. I don't know if the two are related, or a coincidence. I only had about 25 9mm in the bin at the time. I only load handgun calibers, and I generally empty the bin whenever I load primers, so it shouldn't over stress the bin mount. I don't have any idea how the primer indexing arm got bent.

Quote from Reloader on December 16, 2017, 10:38 pmcut the bottom along both sides and the front all the way through leaving a tab that bends down about 1/2 the length of the bin. Use this as a chute to drop loaded ammo into a BIG akro bin or a box under it. Works great if the machine is mount up on a strong mount. Mine holds 800 to 1000 rounds loaded, with no excess weight hanging on the bin to bend the hangar.
