Generally speaking, how often should it be changed out?

When it stops working or takes much longer than normal to get the results you want.

Actual times will vary based on how much you're tumbling, how often, and how dirty your brass is.

in general, we estimate a load of media will clean about 20-25 full loads of brass. Eventually the inside of the bowl gets covered in splotches, which redeposit onto the cases. Then we toss the media, clean the inside of the bowl using detergent, and replace the media.
